Chamber Lunch and Learn to Address Redistricting in Texas

WESLACO - The Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce will hold an informative Lunch & Learn sponsored by TXU Energy addressing

Redistricting in the state of Texas on September 1. A panel with Rio Grande Valley’s State Legislators will address the redistricting process and what it means to the Valley.  Representatives Armando Martinez, Aaron Pena and Veronica Gonzalez will talk about redistricting and the upcoming legislative session. Senator Eddie Lucio III has been invited to attend.In the 2011 legislative session,

Texas lawmakers will redraw state and federal political lines.  South Texas is one of the faster-growing and as a whole will pick up 3 to 4 new Congressional districts.  It is a high-stakes process that will have an enormous impact on the political balance of power, and shape public policy.

The Lunch & Learn is being provided to the business community so that they stay informed on the topic as more representation means more money for the Valley that would pay for more infrastructure, education and transportation.
