Texas Onion Fest set for March 24-25, expands to two-day event

The 23rd Annual Texas Onion Fest is scheduled for March 24-25, 2012, going from a one-day to a two-day event, to be held at Weslaco City Park.

“One of the biggest complaints we receive about Onion Fest is that there’s simply not enough time to see everything,” commented Martha Noell, Chamber President and CEO. “There’s so much going on that one day just isn’t enough. We are excited about expanding our event and improving it even more”

The Texas Onion Fest celebrates the development of the world famous sweet Texas onion which was developed in Weslaco. The festival is just one of the many attractions Weslaco has to offer, and features live entertainment, cooking demonstrations, recipe contests, dancing horse show, and of course, the ever popular blooming onion.

Admission is $5 at the gate, Saturday and Sunday. Children's admission is $3. Ages 3 yrs and younger get in free. On Sunday, all kids get in free! $8 two-day passes are available pre-sale ONLY, as well as $4 Senior tickets,whichwill be avilable forpurchase at 255 S. Texas, Weslaco.
