Chamber Volunteer receives Statewide Volunteer of the Year Award

The Texas Festivals & Events Association (TFEA) awarded Daryl Smith of Weslaco with the 2008 Volunteer of the Year Award during the TFEA annual conference held July 17-20 in Houston, TX. Daryl Smith was recognized for his dedication to volunteering as Chairman of the Board of the Weslaco Chamber of Commerce and Co-Chair of the Texas Rio Grande Valley Onion Festival. He is also a leader in his church community and the Catholic ACTS program, and spends valuable time coaching his children and others in local sport leagues. Smith will be submitted as the TFEA's Texas Volunteer Nominee to the International Festival & Event Association.
