2008 Onion Festival Earns Top Honors

The Texas Festivals & Events Association (TFEA) awarded the Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce 1st place recognition in eight marketing categories for producing the Texas Rio Grande Valley Onion Festival.

The Weslaco Chamber earned the Zenith Award for budgets of $75,000 to $250,000, the highest recognition a festival can receive in the state of Texas, and 1st place awards for Best TV Promotion, Best Radio Promotion, Best Festival Website, Best New Event, Best Single Newspaper Display Ad, Best Newspaper Insert, and Best Sponsor Solicitation Package.

The Weslaco Chamber would like to congratulate the Onion Festival Committee for making the festival an award-winning event that welcomes people from all over to celebrate the Texas 1015 Onion. We look forward to another successful year at the 2009 Onion Festival set for Saturday, April 4th!
