Re-Building Your Business after Hurricane Dolly, August 6

In response to the aftermath of Hurricane Dolly, the Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce invites all Mid-Valley businesses to attend a conference on Wednesday, August 6, from 12 – 6 pm, to receive information and assistance from emergency management officials, utility, insurance, and building repair companies.

George Garrett, Emergency Management Coordinator, and David Salinas, Weslaco Public Works Director, will give an overview of the damage and recovery efforts being made in the City of Weslaco and surrounding areas from 12 to 1:30 pm. Representatives from utility, insurance, building repair, phone service, and lawn care companies will be available throughout the day to answer questions and assist individual businesses with their needs.

The Small Business Administration and UTPA Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will also be available to assist business owners with disaster loan applications if the location where their property exists is declared a disaster area. The UTPA SBDC will also be providing information for those businesses who are meeting rising demands in transportation, repair, and clean-up, etc., due to Hurricane Dolly.

The conference will be held at the Weslaco Business Visitors Center located at 301 W. Railroad St. All businesses are encouraged to attend. For more information, call the Weslaco Chamber at (956) 968-2102.
