Weslaco’s Texas Onion Fest is turning “20” and it promises to be sweeter than the year before. The 20th annual Texas Onion Fest will host a two-day birthday celebration on Friday, April 3, from 6 pm to 9 pm, and Saturday, April 4, from 10 am to 9 pm, at Weslaco City Park located at 300 N. Airport Dr. So save the dates and leave room to eat a sweet onion blossom!
The festivities kick-off Friday, April 3, with a “Pop Rock Onion” Concert sponsored by Weslaco ISD featuring musical performances by Madore, SkyQuest, Limonada, Templo EBEN-EZER, and much more, including concession food and a free Guitar Hero World Tour Tournament.
On Saturday, beginning at 10 am, sign up to enter the Onion Eating Contests sponsored by Weslaco Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and give a mouthful of onions a try. Live music and entertainment will set the stage from morning till night on two stages with the sounds of country music, mariachis, salsa dancing, tejano, and more sponsored by AEP Texas and Magic Valley Electric Co-Op. Headliners include Los Badd Boyz, Roberto Pulido, Albert Zamora and Texas Heat.
Don't miss the unforgettable performance by The Andalusian and Azteca Dancing Horses, scheduled at 1 pm and 3 pm in the Charro Arena. A group of riders showcase this unique breed of horses that dance with precision and grace to traditional Mexican music. Taking flight before and after the horse shows is the R/C Airshow showcasing model airplanes.
Delicious concession food awaits you on the festival grounds, as well as an inviting H-E-B Arts & Crafts Tent, South Texas Vo-Tech “Custom Classic Truck & Car Show”, Knapp Medical Family Area Pavilion, and a one-day Guitar Hero World Tour Tournament sponsored by BBVA Compass.

Bring your family and friends to Texas Onion Fest, there’s plenty of room for everyone! Weslaco City Park is located at 300 N. Airport Drive. Gate admission is $2 person on Friday, and $5 adults, $4 seniors, and $2 children all day Saturday. Purchase advance Saturday tickets at the Weslaco Chamber and save $1 off adult admission.
