Weslaco, TX…The reigning Miss TX-USA, Brooke Daniels, from Tomball, TX. will be visiting the Rio Grande Valley on August 14-16th, 2009.
At one of her scheduled appearances, she will be reading historical books to school children visiting the Weslaco Historical Museum, 500 S. Texas Blvd., on Saturday, Aug. 15th at 1 p.m. She will also be signing autographs and taking pictures with those in attendance.
Brooke is completing her one year reign as “Miss TX USA 2009” and will relinquish her crown to her successor, chosen by a panel of judges at this year’s pageant to be held in Houston, TX on Labor Day weekend, Sept. 5-6th, 2009. She was selected in the Top 10 finalists recently at “Miss USA 2010” which was held at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada last month.
The brown-eyed blonde beauty, who was named one of the 25 most beautiful Houstonians by H-Texas magazine, is a senior at Sam Houston State University with plans to earn a Masters Degree and pursue a career in television and film. Brooke is majoring in Mass Communications with a minor in radio and television, and she enjoys a career as a professional model.
Finding joy in helping others, Brooke supports various community and charitable organizations throughout the State of Texas, including the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the Ovarian Cancer Foundation’s Sprint for Life, the Periwinkle Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Shriners’ Hospitals, and others. After witnessing the devastating effects of Alzheimer’s disease on her grandfather, Brooke has gained a particular interest in that disease and supports those who care for its victims.
The eldest of three children, Brooke is family-oriented and likes to spend time at home reading, cooking, scrap booking, and playing with her puppies. For a good work-out, she trains with weights and takes long runs with her ipod! Her other interests and activities are hunting, karaoke, and going to the movies. phone, atypical for a young woman her age! Brooke’s favorite sport is baseball and her favorite piece of advice is: “You can’t hit a homerun unless you step up to the plate!”
As Miss TX USA this past year, Brooke spent many months acting as a Goodwill Ambassador, making appearances on behalf of her sponsors and charitable organizations, giving motivational speeches and supporting Texas preliminary pageants, such as Miss Rio Grande Valley, produced by Debilou Productions, Inc.
