For Immediate Release: Frontera Audubon Teams Up with Nature Photographer Ruth Hoyt for Point and Click Workshop in Weslaco
Frontera Audubon will be hosting the incredible talent of professional photographer Ruth Hoyt on Sat., Nov. 7 when Hoyt shares her insight, techniques and technical expertise with hobbyists and experts, alike, at a workshop and tour designed to make capturing nature a little easier, a little more beautiful and a little more fun.
This “Point and Click” workshop is for enthusiasts of all levels with all sorts of equipment. Film cameras, digital equipment, anything goes, according to Hoyt, whose only suggestion is a tripod, but even that is not mandatory. “Frontera Audubon is a very photogenic setting, say Hoyt, and this workshop will help people truly capture the color, texture and the feel of the plant and wildlife community here. We’ll spend part of the morning inside with some basic instruction and looking at some examples…just sharing information and stories. Maybe get a little more technical, depending on the group. Then, we’ll go outside and work with nature. It should be just a great Saturday morning event.”
The program will be from 8a.m. until 11a.m., cost $75.00 and include a daypass to the Frontera Thicket and Grounds along with refreshments. Those attended are encouraged to bring along a brown bag lunch to enjoy after the workshop on the deck overlooking the stream. Reservations can be made by calling Frontera Audubon at (956) 968-3275.
Frontera Audubon is a nonprofit organization maintaining 15 acres of native habitat in the middle of Weslaco’s urban environment. Grounds include a revegetated marshland with boardwalk access, sabal palm forest, native Thicket, citrus orchard, as well as historic home, Visitors’ Center, and meeting room. Frontera encourages new members to join and volunteers to become involved.
