Weslaco, Texas – In June 2009, IDEA Public Schools won the H-E-B Excellence in Education Award for Best Small School District in the state of Texas. To celebrate this achievement, Suzanne Wade, H-E-B President of the Food and Drug Divisions, along with HEB colleague, Karen Rogers, Director of Partner Communications & Culture, visited IDEA Public Schools on Oct. 30 to share some highlights from the H-E-B Excellence in Education award program.
“We [at H-E-B] are passionate about education, and it starts with Charles Butt,” shared Wade. “He is an advocate for education. He’s not only invested financially but he spends a lot of time studying the educational system and finding ways to make improvements.”
IDEA Public Schools was the first charter school district to receive this prestigious award. CEO and Founder Tom Torkelson commended the faculty and staff their hard work and setting ambitious goals in the classroom.
