South Texas College is having a Mentor Breakfast meeting organized by the Valley Scholars Program Thursday, February 11, 2010, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., at the STC Mid-Valley Campus. This event will initiate the Valley Scholars Mentor Program in the Mid-Valley area.
The goal of the Mentor Program is to create partnerships between Valley Scholar students and business and community leaders from the Mid-Valley area. Through these partnerships, we hope to continue to provide a foundation that empowers students to excel in their academic achievements and to become leaders that will make significant contributions to their communities. Our hope is that the mentoring relationship will nurture, encourage, and motivate Valley Scholar students to set high career goals and perform to their full potential.
During the Mentor Breakfast event, you will have the opportunity to meet with Valley Scholars from the Mid-Valley area, hear from our graduates, and learn more about the Mentor Program. The Valley Scholars Program recognizes and promotes academic excellence by providing financial assistance, academic support services, mentoring, and leadership development. Ultimately, your participation will help to develop the mentoring component of our program.
We hope that you will join us to find out more about the Valley Scholars Mentor Program. We need role models such as your to make this initiative a success.
