Frontera Audubon continues its Photo Walks with Michael Delesantro on Sunday morning, Feb. 21, 9a.m. till 11a.m. The topic for this workshop is macro photography, a technique that creates images on film or a digital sensor that are close to the same size as the subject. Macro photography is popular among naturalists as nature can be captured in its habitat in the correct scale.
Delesantro calls this program “It’s a Small World” and emphasizes the range of insects, butterflies, reptiles and amphibians that dwell at Frontera Audubon on the organization’s 15 acre urban sanctuary. Those attending the workshop are asked to bring camera equipment that they are most comfortable with and a keen eye for the assortment of wildlife. A short program will be held in the Frontera meeting room with the tour and “on the trail” instruction to follow.
Michael Delesantro has been involved with Frontera Audubon for the past 20 years, knows the sanctuary inside and out, and has used the Thicket as the sight for his award winning photographs including a grand prize winning photo in the Valley Land Fund Photography Contest. He is a biology instructor at the Science Academy of South Texas.
Frontera Audubon offers Photo Walks the third Sunday of each month. Members may attend for free; others will be charged $3, which includes a daypass to the Frontera preserve (a $5 value). Advanced registration is required as the program is limited to the first 15 registrants. Telephone reservations may be made by calling Frontera at 968-3275.
