The final round of statewide open-house style public meetings will be held for the development of the Statewide Long-Range Transportation Plan 2035. This will be held in thePharr area on Wednesday, August 4. This plan will establish a framework for addressing the challenges of our aging infrastructure, urban densification, and a growing population through 2035. The plan will also address the need for improvements to all modes of transportation including roadways, pedestrian and bicycle facilities, transit, freight rail, passenger rail, airports, water ports, pipelines, and Intelligent Transportation Systems.

The purpose of this second series of meetings is to present project updates and to solicit comments and input to aid in the development of the plan. This statewide plan also provides the foundation for a number of other TxDOT planning efforts such the Rail Plan, the 2011-2015 Strategic Plan and corridor-related initiatives, and it provides direction that makes it easier for all of these different planning efforts to work in coordination. It also assures the state goals are consistent with federal priorities and guidelines.
