WESLACO—The Weslaco Museum, 500 S. Texas, needs additional volunteers to help staff its reception desk and assist with expanded museum projects. The Museum is hosting a meeting and reception on Thursday, June 23, at 2:30 p.m. for men and women who are interested in becoming volunteers.
The museum is open to the public Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers staff the reception desk daily they also assist the small museum staff with greeting visitors, answering the phone, giving tours of the exhibits, helping to organize the collections along with doing research for upcoming exhibits. Volunteers also help with programs and receptions for special presentations and activities.
The museum is in great need of bilingual volunteers to help with translating and giving Spanish language tours for the public.
Volunteering at the museum provides an interesting way to connect with the area’s history and cultural activities while making a meaningful contribution to the community.
