Doctors Hospital at Renaissance to host Medicaid enrollment event prior to Feb. 10 deadline

If you are a Medicaid recipient and have not signed up for a new plan, now is your chance!!

Edinburg, TX—1/18/2012—Doctors Hospital at Renaissance will host a Medicaid Enrollment Event on Saturday, January 28th, 2012 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. The Enrollment Event will take place at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance, located at 118 Paseo del Prado behind the Cancer Center at Renaissance. The entrance of the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance is located off of McColl Rd., north of Dove and south of Alberta. At the Enrollment Fair, personnel from Maximus Medicaid Enrollment Brokers will help Medicaid recipients learn more about STAR/ STAR PLUS and Children’s Medicaid Dental Services and enroll in the plan of their choice.

Within the last two months, Medicaid recipients received an enrollment kit by mail, which included a brochure, provider directory, and other materials explaining the STAR and STAR PLUS Medicaid programs. STAR/ STAR PLUS and Children’s Medicaid Dental Services are the new way to get Medicaid services. The enrollment kit explains how to pick a STAR or STAR PLUS medical plan and main doctor (primary care provider). The notice is for people who get Medicaid and live in and live in Hidalgo, Cameron, Starr, or Willacy Counties.

Starting March 1, 2012 Medicaid recipients will get Medicaid medical services through STAR or STAR PLUS, which are Medicaid managed care programs. STAR offers a medical plan to help you get services. You also will get a main doctor for most of your health care. Pregnant women, children receiving Medicaid, and TANF families must enroll in the Texas STAR Program. The STAR PLUS Program offers a medical plan to help you get Medicaid services and a main doctor for most of your health care. This doctor also will help you get medical equipment and set up visits with specialists, if needed. Current Recipients of both Medicaid and Medicare will receive Medicare benefits the same way as they do now but will receive their long term services through the STAR PLUS Program. People age 20 and younger will get Medicaid dental services through a managed care program.

The Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Enrollment Event will provide Medicaid recipients with a better understanding of the plans and staff will assist the recipients with choosing the plan that is most appropriate for them. The event is free and open to the public. Maximus Medicaid Enrollment Brokers personnel will help recipients choose a primary care provider, change their current plans, and get a STAR/ STAR PLUS ID card. Those interested in attending the fair should bring with them their current Texas Benefits Medicaid Card and the STAR/STAR PLUS/Dental Welcome Packet (a big white envelope that has the STAR or STAR PLUS logo).
