Weslaco, Texas (Feb. 20, 2012) – IDEA Public Schools announced they will host a Teacher Job Fair on Thursday, February 23rd, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the McAllen Convention Center.
IDEA’s Teacher Job Fair is an opportunity for prospective K-12 teachers to learn more about the IDEA school system and its mission to prepare students from underserved communities for success in a four-year college or university.
For the past five years, IDEA has sent 100% of its graduates to four-year colleges and universities. In an area where just over half of adults over the age of 25 hold a high school diploma and 13% hold acollege degree, IDEA’s mission “College For All” is nothing short of revolutionary. IDEA teachers are transforming the Rio Grande Valley one classroom at a time.
IDEA is expanding in 2012-2013 to offer more students from communities across Texas access to IDEA’s high-quality instruction and rigorous, college-prep curriculum. IDEA currently operates 20 schools serving over 9,000 students in 10 communities across the Rio Grande Valley. This fall, IDEA will open new schools in McAllen, Brownsville, Austin and San Antonio.
The Teacher Job Fair will kick-off with a panel discussion in which principals, teachers, and current students will discuss what it is like to be a part of the IDEA Family. Participants will also have the opportunity to meet IDEA principals and learn about teaching positions available in the 2012-2013 school year. Prospective IDEA teachers should bring copies of their resume to share with hiring principals.
IDEA strongly encourages all interested applicants to pre-register for the eventonline at www.ideapublicschools.org/jobfair. For more information about IDEA, visit www.ideapublicschools.org or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
