Birdathon 2019
Teams are now forming for this years Birdathon event, a fun day of birding to benefit Frontera Audubon. Those interested in spotting birds across the Rio Grande Valley can do so while raising money to help protect birds and their habitat.
Birdathon, held on Saturday, February 2nd, 2019 from Sunrise to Sunset, challenges birders and nature enthusiasts to trek across the Rio Grande Valley to find the greatest number of bird species in a single day. Like a walkathon, Birdathon participants collect donation pledges from friends and family members. Donations can be a flat amount or pegged to the number of bird species spotted by participating teams. Pledges can run from 10 to $1 a species, for example.
Birders of all levels are welcome to participate, from children to high school students to more seasoned groups. More than anything, Birdathon offers an opportunity to mingle with like-minded, experienced individuals and raise money for a worthy cause.
Stop in to Frontera's Visitor's Center at 1101 S Texas Blvd. to pick up a Birdathon packet. For further information, or to join a team, call Chris at 956-968-3275 or email FronteraAudubon@Yahoo.com
