Weslaco Beautiful, a committee of the Weslaco Chamber of Commerce, selected KRGV as its Commercial Beautification Award recipient for the month of May. Located along Expressway 83, the KRGV studio boasts a beautiful landscape that Station Manager John Kittleman takes great pride in.
“We’re really proud to keep Weslaco looking great,” remarked Kittleman. “This was a big project for us. This area [adjacent to the feeder road] is technically state property but they did work with us and allowed this beautification. We’re happy to have this as a welcome to folks who come visit us at the station.
The Residential Beautification award went to Refugio Hernandez of Weslaco who picked up gardening as a hobby when he moved to Weslaco seven years ago.
“When I moved here, it’s something I started doing on the weekend,” remarked Hernandez. “I love it, it’s de-stressing. We didn’t have any help, my wife and I did everything – the planting, the design, even [selecting] the plants.”
