• Miss Weslaco and Texas Onion Fest courts named

    The Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the winners of the 2018 Miss Weslaco Pageant, which was produced by J. Nava Studios and was held Sunday, January 28, at the WISD Performing Arts Center.
     
    Laryssa Garcia, a junior at Weslaco East High School, was crowned as the 61st Miss Weslaco.  First Runner Up was Vica Guerra, while Ashlee Ebarb was named 2nd Runner Up. Both girls are juniors at Weslaco High School.
     
    Lia Romero was crowned as the 5th Little Miss Weslaco, while Melanie Trevino was named 1st Runner Up and Annette Trevino was named 3rd Runner Up.
     
    Miss Weslaco and Little Miss Weslaco 2018 will participate in the 29th annual Texas Onion Fest, Saturday March 24th at Mayor Pablo G. Peña City Park.  Miss Weslaco will also represent the City of Weslaco at other chamber events such as ribbon cuttings and ground breakings. Special thanks to Miss Weslaco 2017 Karsen Szutz and Little Miss Weslaco 2017 Tori Barrera.

    The Miss Texas Onion Fest pageant was held the same day. Young ladies from ages 8 to 15 years old went before an audience at the Weslaco ISD Performing Arts Center to compete for four different titles. The winners are as follows: 

    Miss Texas Onion Fest 2018 – Olivia Canales
    First Runner-up - Danielle Silva
    Second Runner-up – Olivia Vento
    Third Runner-up – Lauren Delgado
    Miss Texas Onion Blossom 2018 – Denai Alanis
    First Runner-up - Ivy Hernandez

    Miss Texas Springsweet 2018 - Ava Azoca
    First Runner-up -  Katherine McCandless
    Second Runner-up - Trinity Solis
    Third Runner-up – Kyliegh Barron

    Miss Texas Pearl Onion Princess 2018 – Jaymie Aguirre
    First Runner-up – Bianka Hawkins Jackson
    Congratulations to all the girls for their hard work and dedication to the pageant.  All the girls will make an appearance at the Texas Onion Fest on Saturday, March 24 at Mayor Pablo G. Pena City Park.

    The upcoming festival will feature live entertainment, dancing horse show, cooking demonstrations, free kiddie rides, food booths, the 1015 Market and more. Gate admission is $6 for adults, $4 for children.
