Weslaco Beautiful honors hard work with Residential Beautification Award

 Dr. Dionisio Calvo and his wife Nerissa’s  hard work, love  and constant care of the front and back yards of their home in Weslaco earned them the November Beautification Award by the Weslaco Beautiful Committee and the Tip of Texas Orchid Society. 

Dr. Calvo and his family have lived in the home for over 27 years enjoying the fruits of their labor with spectacular landscaping including oak and citrus trees, exotics, shrubs, lawn and flowers galore.  In the backyard surrounding a gorgeous pool, you can find ncredible cactus container gardens including amazing succulents. Also in the backyard Dr. Calvo spends time in his well organized greenhouse where he propagates his own plants and raises beautiful orchids.

You will find Dr. Calvo outside most evenings and weekends where he takes pride and careful care of his home’s landscape.  He and his wife enjoy plants that expose nature’s personality with colors, shapes and textures.  He explains that if his yard was someone’s gorgeous face, “the greenery would represent the smile and the flowers the laughter.” They hope others are inspired to enhance the quality of life in the city by making Weslaco a more beautiful place through exterior landscaping.

The Weslaco Beautiful Residential Beautification Awards, cosponsored by the Tip of Texas Orchid Society, are designed to recognize the efforts of individuals and organizations that contribute to community pride through excellence in landscaping, beautification and continued property maintenance.
