Andalusian & Azteca Dancing Horses, Charro Roping Act and Charro Escaramuza

Don't miss the unforgettable performance by The Andalusian and Azteca Dancing Horses returning for their ninth year to Onion Fest. Their performance features 8 - 10 riders (youth & adults) who ride the horses with precision and grace as they dance to traditional Mexican music. The riders will be adorned with the traditional custom-made suede and wool Charro attire and rabbit skin sombreros. Scheduled to perform at 1 pm and 4 pm. A new feature will be the Flores Family Charros and a group of Escaramuzas. These two groups from San Antonio promote the culture of the Mexican charros. The Escaramuzas are a group of young girls and women that perform precision equestrian maneuvers while riding side-saddle. Performances are free once you enter the gates and are scheduled at 4 pm.

Internet Cafe

Combine a cup of coffee, the Internet, and a festival and what do you get? An Internet Cafe exclusively at Onion Fest! Browse the Internet or check your email on a laptop computer provided by VTX Broadband, a local Internet service provider bringing you high speed wireless Internet. Looking for hot coffee in the morning or frappucinos in the afternoon is made easy by S&R Tropic Juices, who will be selling various coffee drinks as well as smoothies and cookies. This is one stop on the festival grounds you don't want to miss!

Onion Eating Contests

The celebration continues with the annual onion eating contests at the Onion Fest Rest Area. A mouthful of sweet onions can be a rewarding experience at this event. All ages are encouraged to participate. The competing categories include youth, adult, senior, and celebrity. Winners will receive great prizes provided by area sponsors. The public is welcome to attend and cheer on the participants. Our reigning Onion Fest Queens will be assisting the contestants. If you are brave enough to take on the challenge, sign-up at the Weslaco Chamber of Commerce or at the Information Booth at Onion Fest from 10 -11 am.

Kiddie Rides

Kids will have a blast and burn off their energy at the Kiddie Rides, an area designed just for kids. Purchase a wristband and enjoy unlimited rides including a rock climbing wall, inflatable slides, and mini-ferris wheel.
