Why Leadership Mid-Valley?

Leadership Mid-Valley is a dynamic program offered by the Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce. The program was established to bring together rising professionals with a passion and willingness to use and improve their leadership skills to enrich the quality of life in Weslaco and across the Mid-Valley

What will you gain?

Participants will gain inside knowledge of the region, a new network of like-minded leaders, and develop an in-depth understanding of the partnerships and complexities of our community!

Through monthly sessions participants will learn about the Mid-Valley and its opportunities and challenges, gain valuable education to help enhance their capacity to work for greater communication and understanding of local issues and become further committed to improving the quality of life in the Mid-Valley. All while learning valuable skills to help them in their field of work!

Criteria

Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce members in good standing are eligible to nominate a staff member to participate in Leadership Mid-Valley, additionally non-member options are available. (See Tuition for more information on cost!)

The employer must endorse the application, as the participant will require time away from work for full session days. Participants are required to complete the elective activities as part of the program which may require limited/additional time away from work.

Classes are open once a year and application does not guarantee selection! Class size may be limited based on the number of applications received.

Selected applicants should demonstrate, Integrity, excellence, professionalism, and a vested interest in community volunteerism!

Commitment

To successfully complete Leadership Mid-Valley participants must attend 8 monthly sessions held on the second Thursday of each month running from October to May beginning promptly at 8AM and ending at 5PM. Participants must also attend the Leadership Retreat, held in September, and the graduation in May.

Attendance to the initial retreat is mandatory for participants. Absences from more than 2 classes are grounds for dismissal from the class. 15-minute absence from class will constitute a one-half day absence. Please ensure you are able to meet these requirements.

Further expectations include participation in the class fundraiser, class project and in Texas Onion Fest.

Tuition

If accepted into Leadership Mid-Valley the tuition will be $500 for good standing Weslaco Chamber Members. Non-Members tuition is $650, for more information on joining the Weslaco Chamber CLICK HERE or contact us at (956)968-2102

Tuition may be paid by the employer, the participant, or a sponsoring organization. The tuition fee will cover meals, transportation, speakers, materials, etc.

Payment must be made prior to start of program. Tuition is nonrefundable in whole or in part.
